Great short thread on *emergence* by Yohan John. Short but very rich in wide-ranging implications. At the end it hints to what imo is one of the ultimate frontiers that have to be confronted: causation in complex systems.

It is difficult to overestimate the role omniscience plays in deadening one's capacity to experience. If one knows what is going to happen ahead of time, one does not have to experience it.
